Jackie Newgent, RD, CDN, is a chef, registered dietitian, and award-winning cookbook author. She's author of the media-acclaimed Big Green Cookbook (Wiley, 2009). She's also author of The All-Natural Diabetes Cookbook (American Diabetes Association, 2007) which was awarded the Best Health and Nutrition Book in the World by Gourmand World Cookbook Awards 2007. She's a chef instructor with the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City where she has been teaching hands-on cooking classes for over a decade. Newgent's popular courses include Green Cuisine with Jackie Newgent, Superfoods, Cooking for Fitness, and All-Natural Cooking with Jackie Newgent. She's a consultant for "Healthy Children Healthy Futures," a national after-school nutrition and fitness program targeted to city kids and parents. For the program, she wrote A Parent's Guide to Healthy Eating and Physical Activity.
